Them Birdies

On a lazy Saturday (read : every Saturday mornings), all I do is enjoy a cup mug bucket of freshly brewed Indonesian coffee. Mentioning the origin of the coffee I drink is crucial, in case anyone would like to share me a cup of coffee, they would know exactly what coffee to bring. I only drink freshly brewed coffee and I despise instant coffee/drip coffee. Whoever invented those crappy instant coffee should be punished a lifetime parole of slow dial-up internet connection. I mean, fresh coffee made out of perfectly grilled coffee beans, while instant coffee made out of the soil where the coffee tree grows.

Anyway, back on my lazy Saturday activity..
Our dining room and living room has this one side of the wall full of floor-to-ceiling glass windows, allowing us to see directly to the balcony and outside view. I suppose the outside can see us inside too (sometime I strut around the house (especially in this room) pantless and let out the exhibitionist part in me), these room are where I like to spend my time in the morning (clothed or unclothed).

This Mourning Dove makes a better candid expression then many of us

We live on the second floor so the leafy part of the trees separating us from the next door apartment block are exactly on the same height with our balcony. These trees are home to uncountable birds, few pairs of squirrels, some homeless raccoons, and a band of vigilantés. Its so thick and old it almost have its own ecosystem.

Bohemian Waxwing

love how the birds chirp in the morning. I sometime imagine what conversation they were having. I also like to stalk watch them. I lured them with bread crumbs and seeds to my balcony to get a better look at them. Armed with cam and boredom, I started to take their pics too. The results are magnificient : a collage of bird pics and one fertilized balcony. Those lil birdies have short bowel system.

Say wot? leave my bowel system out of this, yo dang woman

One of the most common bird you can see in Quebec, even in downtown, busy area are Chickadees and Common House sparrow. Those who hang out in city parks are not shy to human. They will come to eat the seeds from your palm and makes you feel like a Disney princess. They visit my balcony far too often, I know this because they are picky and messy eater.

Chickadees can be found everywhere in the city.

I wonder how the birds even know I put seeds for them? Do they smell it? I am sure scientist have made test about birds smelling sense, but how would you know? You asked the bird to flap their left wing if they smell seed, right wing if they smell breadcrumb and twerk if they think you're an idiot?

I wanted to have a binocular for this new bird-watching hobby, but I have been told that I am too pervert to be trusted with a bino. I tried to convince everyone that i will not use the bino to any of my neighbors. I even tried to seal the deal with my famous iron-clad pinky fingers swear, but no one buy it. Tough clients.

Blue Jay, this one is a silent guest.

I noticed that often the birds jerk from the bird feeder as if they were afraid of somethin, and they were. When I look up, this is what staring back at me :
The harbinger of doom looking down at me from the upper floor, silently judging my life choice

Apparently the neighbor upstairs has a cat (an ass-y one) who pokes his head and claw-y paws each time a bird comes closer and scare them away.

I never had any interest of watching any bird in particular. Perhaps it was because I don't see them much around, but here in Quebec City, the city birds are every where and they are pretty. I have never thought I would have a bird eat seeds on my hand before, but as you see on the pic, I did it. It was fun till they crap on your hand. Yeah, those pricks whose weight is lighter than a baby's sin take the insult to another level, not that they bite the hand that feeds them, but they sh*t on it instead.
