Her Cam

Her Cam
The cam I am using for taking pictures on this blog is Nikon Coolpix S810c. Its an android camera, its almost literally an android phone glued on a good lens. As a trend-follower wannabe, I was thinking to join the crowd by getting myself a DSLR camera. That kind of camera does take great pics but I am a little poor for that fancy gadget.  I opted for this Nikon android instead for these following shallow reasons;

  •  Its small. This camera fits in my bag easily and weigh almost nothing. I don’t need to hang it over my neck like DSLR camera. There can only be necklaces on my neck (and few icky hickeys),
  • Its easy to use and its touch screen. Yep, I am getting old. Its getting harder and harder for me to understand how new gadget works,
  •  It connects to wifi. I can instantly brag my pics online, keep in touch with the world and google my way home whenever I get lost as long as I can get wifi connection,
  •  It has 12x zoom so I can discreet taking picture of my un-aware objects. Without having to do this:

And act more like a (far from) elegant professional Asian tourist instead:

  •  Since its android, I can download cool photography applications and touch up my photo easily. Myth says you need a good eye and a good lens to take picture. I say, all you need is an easy to work with camera and cool applications to modify your pics.
  •   Pricewise; its affordable. Especially when you find 50% discount like I did, woohoo! Viva rebates!!

The quality of the pics taken are good and sufficient to capture your memories. However, there are few downfalls of this beast and I am not telling you (now). Well, okay I tell you one; this camera doesn’t start up fast, I mean it takes its sweet time when you turn it on, it doesn’t care if there is your favorite Hollywood star passing by giving his or her best smile at you while you hopelessly hope your cam will eventually awake and work. Caution: you will feel the urge to slam your cam to the ground but then it occurs to your mind that it is however your only cam. On this stage, it is better that youhave some reliable anger management techniques. My tips for this kind of hassle is simple; keep someone with a better camera beside you all the time and make sure they are on standby mode to take the pics.

I like to retouch my pics for the lightning and color. And that’s about it. I don’t retouch faces or skins. I would like to but there is no application good enough, the one I want called Plastic Surgery is not available yet on android mode.

Another thing I use for taking picture is a monopod/selfie stick/narcistic mast or whatever you call this thing.

With a creativity that knows no boundaries like mine, you can stick it on a tree branch and take pics from unusual angles. Its fun!
